Financial Literacy in the curriculum
Overview
In this practical webinar, we combine expertise in finance and education to bring together what is needed for truly effective financial literacy ahead of its strengthened inclusion in the new National Curriculum for England.
We will be exploring what foundations make up good financial literacy. Considering how to ensure pupils have opportunities to apply what they have learnt in different contexts, and build on skills and understanding through sequenced and cross-curricular learning opportunities. We will also look at the subject knowledge and training that is needed to support educators in teaching these concepts, and reflect on the importance of making time to ‘talk about money’. From a careers lens, we will also be taking about what essential financed based skills and knowledge students need to learn to be able to thrive in the workplace

Understand the gaps in current financial literacy education and how this will impact on teachers subject knowledge
Have clarification on what the ‘foundations’ of financial literacy are and key skills and knowledge needed in the new National Curriculum
