October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, an awareness campaign focused on helping people and businesses to stay secure and safe with technology. This feels more important than ever this year with new cyber security risks introduced by wider AI use – and with recent cyber breaches in the news reminding everyone that schools and businesses need to be vigilant with their cybersecurity.

This year’s Cyber Security Awareness month theme is ‘Stay Safe Online’ and introduces ‘Core 4’ – four easy steps that anyone can take to boost online safety:

  • Use strong passwords and a password manager
  • Turn on multi-factor authentication  (MFA)
  • Recognise and report scams
  • Update your software.
