Technology-led learning is an important part of preparing students for their future careers, so school technology and the infrastructure that supports it needs to be capable and dependable.
‘Connect the classroom’ Government funding is available for certain schools in England to improve their internet speeds if their connectivity falls below current Wi-Fi standards.
The scheme is open to schools that are either in a priority education investment area or are in an education investment area and have a ‘requires improvement’ or ‘inadequate’ Ofsted rating.
Schools need to make a claim for the funding and the Government says that all those eligible should have received an email about it.

If you haven’t received this email and think your school could be eligible, you can check who can take part here and email the Department for Education directly to state your case.
Once funding is granted, schools must find their own supplier to carry out the improvement work to the specified standards; they will then be reimbursed once they submit a claim.
The funding is available until 2025 and, although that seems a long way off, the sooner your school can get the process underway to improve its technology infrastructure provision, the better.
