Power up your STEAM classes with these iPad apps

A guiding principle of our R.I.S.E. Magazine is to share lots of helpful resources and references to help teachers and educators. Keeping this in mind, in the second issue of the magazine we thought we’d update a popular resource by our Head of Education, Mark Anderson (@ICTEvangelist), that he created back in 2016: the periodic table of STEAM iPad Apps.

For the first edition of magazine, Mark worked with R.I.S.E. editor and Product Manager at NetSupport, Kat Cauchi, to curate and create a new Periodic Table of iPad apps for primary schools. In the second edition, they worked together again to create this updated version of the periodic table of STEAM iPad OS Apps.

The table is broken down into eight different categories of apps based on their potential uses in the classroom:

  • Reference
  • General use
  • Science
  • Maths
  • Modelling
  • Engineering
  • Arts
  • Computing.

Some of the 82 different apps include PhET Simulations, Halo AR, Virtuali-tee and MyScript Calculator – and more.

To get your copy of the periodic table, simply visit the R.I.S.E. Magazine page where you’ll find all previous editions of the magazine.

Whilst you’re there, why not sign up to be notified of when R.I.S.E. goes live? This way, you’ll get instant access to our magazine that’s jam-packed full of edu-goodness and education community articles, guides, resources, and thought-leadership pieces!

You’ll be able to download a PDF of the entire magazine where you can easily print off a copy of the table to put up in your staff room. Also, if you’re looking to find those apps on the pesky App Store, don’t worry, the Periodic Table in the magazine is interactive, so each app icon in the PDF is clickable, taking you straight to its location on the App Store.
