Not only is it the new season of autumn, but our super tech teams have put together a new package of classroom.cloud updates for you! Making things easier for teachers and technicians is always our focus and we think you’ll agree that this update helps with that!
For teachers…
Power management: In these energy-conscious times, switching off unused devices is a no-brainer. So, we’ve now brought this action into the teacher’s domain and added three new icons on the teacher toolbar to Power off, Restart or Log out class devices – either individually, just a selected number, or all at once. (And in the Admin portal, technicians can also do this from the Devices List or Inventory.)
Multi-monitor support: To give teachers maximum visibility of how students are progressing with lesson tasks, they can now choose which monitor to view if a student has more than one enabled, which is perfect for keeping everyone on track.
For administrators and technicians…
New device status – ‘In Tech Session’: So that administrators and technicians are aware of what’s happening on a device at any time, we’ve introduced a new ‘In Tech Session’ status for logged-in devices. This indicates when a teacher or technician is viewing or remote controlling any of their students’ devices, saving technicians from trying to access or work with it when it’s already in use in the classroom.
For example, when the student device is connected with the teacher’s, technicians can see the status is ‘In Class’. Then, when the teacher or a technician views or controls it, the status changes to ‘In Tech Session’. Once that action is completed, it reverts to the previous status.
Audit log: To better keep track of device activity and how technology is being used across the whole school, we have now added the first items to a new Audit Log tool for technicians. Here, they can see any changes to their school’s licences, when users have logged in and out, when additional sites have been added to or removed from the school campus – and more.
Device auto-assignment: Save time with new device auto-assignment! Just as you organise yourself with email rules, technicians can now create rules in classroom.cloud that are applied when newly enrolled devices appear in the Unassigned Devices list for the first time. If the new device matches the rules, it will automatically be moved to the device group named in the rule. You can even create multiple rules and the system will check each one in turn to see if any apply to the new device. You can still assign your devices to a group manually – this just gives you more choice.
We’ve also enhanced things so that the logged-in username will now be displayed in the Devices List, which is really handy when a student is having issues with their device and needs technical help – and technicians can now save even more time by being able to bulk edit device details.
