Celebrated across the globe since 1967, International Literacy Day takes place to promote “the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.”
With the purpose of enriching literacy skills for lifelong learning, the theme this year is ‘Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces’. To ensure no-one is left behind, the goal is to transform learning spaces to ensure quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all.
There are several ways you can help, like donating books to local schools or starting a community lending library. Plus, get involved on social media by using #LiteracyDay to show your support and help raise awareness.
