This week (2nd – 7th March) is National Careers Week (NCW), a celebration and focus on providing young people careers guidance that will help the transition of education to employment.
The main aims of NCW are as follows:
Student empowerment: Providing quality free resources and linking education with the world of employment to ensure students get an important insight into the future of work, and that they are better informed going forward.
Empowering Educators & Advisers: With free resources, the work undertaken in classrooms can be enhanced and teachers can be better supported.
Organisation empowerment: Creating the time and providing the opportunity for businesses to promote their training and career programmes.
Careers week encourages education providers to bring together students, local employers and advisors through careers events and activities. During the week, it is up to each school, academy and college to offer advice to their pupils.
In order to support both career paths and personal development, NetSupport welcome a variety of work experience placements across all different departments, including: IT Support, Product Testing, Marketing and Customer Services. As a result of these placements, a number of individuals have joined full time as apprentices – allowing them to gain both a qualification and vital workplace skills simultaneously. This is made possible through NetSupport’s strong relationship with City College Peterborough, which has been running since 2012.
