Wellbeing has become a hot topic across the globe, for teachers as well as students. As we wait for the full results from the Dubai Student Wellbeing Census (a five-year project to find out how students think and feel about their own wellbeing, happiness, quality of life and engagement), it has been revealed by the Ministry of Education that a quarter of all school pupils in the UAE are being bullied. In addition, results from the Adults@School Wellbeing Survey (of 20,000 school staff) revealed that 40% of participants were ‘just getting by’.

Wellbeing is no longer seen as an individual’s issue but as a collective school duty. It’s something technology can help support when used effectively and safely – helping schools to maximise their edtech investment. For example, schools can support students by capturing how they feel, how confident they are with lesson topics and whether they need extra support, using a Student Feedback mode with visual indicators. Meanwhile schools can help reduce teachers’ anxiety and stress around using edtech by making classroom technology accessible with user modes to suit their level of edtech confidence.
