My name is Christine and I’m 34 years old. When I left school, I had a few jobs that I didn’t really like such as cleaning, working in shops and factory work. I then went on to have my children so was a stay at home mum for several years. During my time not working I decided I to learn about computers as I had always been interested in how they worked. I then went on to learn basic computer coding and taught myself HTML, SCSS and PHP. When I went back to work I was a junior web developer but began to realise that I wanted to a change. I saw an advert for an apprenticeship working with adults with additional needs. This would lead to me achieving NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma. Within a week of me completing this I signed up to do the level 3.
I am now coming to the end of this and can honestly say I have really enjoyed it. The support I have received throughout has been amazing. An apprenticeship is a great way of gaining a new qualification whilst earning some money at the same time. I was fortunate enough to be given a permanent contract once I had completed level 2. I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to others.
