My job as a part of the marketing department at NetSupport, a leading producer of education and corporate software solutions, is a busy one. We have new projects and collateral to plan and create on a daily basis and oversee all of the promotional activities for the company.
As my job is generally busy it’s important that I manage my time wisely and try to find the right balance between work and college assignments. I’ve found that completing the majority of my assignments at home, outside of work hours, is what works best for me. A large number of my assignments as a Social Media and Digital Marketing apprentice have been mostly knowledge-based, with only a few needing practical evidence. This has meant I’ve been able to complete my knowledge-based work at home and only spend a small amount of time during the working day collecting evidence from my work to support this.
I am now nearing the end of my apprenticeship, with only a few months to go and a small number of assignments left to complete. These few remaining assignments are more practical units and require me to spend more time completing them on the job as opposed to at home. Fortunately, the main project I am working on at the moment is the redesign of one of our company websites. This links directly to two of my units and means I am able to take screenshots and collect evidence for the unit criteria as I work.
One of the most important things when completing your assignments is to plan and allocate your time in a sensible way and make sure you find a balance between work and assignments that works for you. Not everyone will be able to complete so many of their assignments from home and that’s where time management really comes into play, as you don’t want your assignments to affect the quality of your day-to-day work and vice versa.
My advice would be to plan your time, be realistic about how much time you have and how much work you have, and never leave it to the last minute!
