My name is Dan, I’m 20 years old and I am currently doing a Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship at Tuto Associates through City College.
I went through sixth form for 3 years with the plan of going to university; after looking into the possibility of doing an apprenticeship instead, it started to grow on me as a sensible alternative. After sixth form I had a Distinction*, B, D, E for my A Level results. Some aspects of the apprenticeship were more appealing to me, such as getting paid on the job, experience in a particular field of work, having the opportunity to put my skills to use, and many more. Some of my roles as a Business Administrator include, storing and recording data, speaking to clients and pension providers over the phone, distribution of mail and a variety of other things.
I get regular visits at work by my City College assessor who makes sure to keep me on track with my units whilst also setting me the next lot of tasks. The OneFile system allows easy communication and support from my assessor on the assignments to ensure progress is made and the tasks are properly completed.
I would highly recommend an apprenticeship to anyone as an alternative to university as it provides a stepping stone into employment, plus 3 years experience in a field of work over the option of a studying for a degree.
