Hello! My name’s Joshua Pell, I’m 20 and I’m studying a Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship with City College Peterborough.
Since the age of 15, I’ve been working part-time doing various things such as block paving, studying construction, and babysitting here and there. I then went into customer services and, after doing this for a few more years, I decided that it wasn’t for me. I did some volunteering at the College and then, during my work experience, they introduced me to all the different departments and around the local communities. City College had me doing all sorts of different activities within their different departments to see what may be a good future career path for me, as I wasn’t sure what was best for my future.
The College suggested to me that I could go onto the apprenticeship scheme and, after taking their advice, I found an apprenticeship in the recruitment team where I was volunteering – and with this came my interview. I found the recruitment process very easy – it was probably the friendliest environment I’ve been to for an interview and the officers were very approachable, which made me feel very comfortable talking to them. Honestly, it felt like I was just talking to another person like a friend instead of being in an interview! I then got the apprenticeship and in a fortnight I was starting it and going for my training induction, which was very helpful.
