From NetSupport School version 10.50 a new quick and easy method to install and use NetSupport School in a Terminal Server Environment was included. From this version the Student is no longer started as an Application when each terminal Server Session is started, instead the NetSupport Student Service installed on the Microsoft Terminal Server will spawn a new Student Process for each new Terminal Server Sessions started.

This means that it is no longer required to run the Terminal Server Configuration Utility to use NetSupport School in a Terminal Server Environment. When NetSupport School 10.50 is installed on a Terminal Server machine only the Base port for the Student and the Student Name will need to be configured.

It is also no longer required to configure the NetSupport School Tutor to Browse a Specific IP address and Port Range to find the Students running in the Terminal Server sessions. Using the new connect to Room option or the Connect to known list option the Tutor will be able to Browse and locate the Students running in the Terminal Server sessions.

Connecting to a NetSupport Student running in a Terminal server session
The Tutor can use different methods to connect to the Students running in the Terminal Server Sessions, however we would recommend to use the Room mode method of Student selection:

Using the "Connect to Room" method

Configure the NetSupport School Tutor
1. Open the NetSupport School Tutor. Navigate to the Tutors Configurator using the {School} drop down menu and then selecting {Configurations}
2. On the {Student Selection} tab tick the option "Connect to Students in Room(s):"
3. Enter your Room Name in the field provided
4. Click OK

Configure the NetSupport Student
1. Open the NetSupport School Configurator on the Terminal Server by using {Start}{Programs}{NetSupport School}{NetSupport SchoolConfigurator}
2. Select the {Room} tab
3. Select the following option {This Computer is always located in the following room:} and enter your Room Name.

Note if your Terminal Server hosts student devices located in multiple classrooms you can use the Room Lookup list option of the NetSupport Student to ensure the correct Room name is supplied.

To enable the room lookup list option access the {Terminal Services} tab within the NetSupport Student Configurator and you will find the option {Use lookup file to set room}.
